Week 24

Hey everyone!  I wanted to start out by giving my older sister Emilee a shout out. Happy Birthday!!!  Love you Em!! Hope you have a good birthday week.  Hahaha!

This week was very similar to my last one...it involved being inside all day, lots of scripture study and reading, trying to call some of our investigators and set up phone lessons, and lots of cooking!

If you know me, you know that the key to my heart is food, especially good food. So this Quarantine has forced us to get creative and has taught me how to cook some good meals. We have had a lot of fun making some good food and is one of the things we all look forward to in our day.

I want to say something to all my buddies that have been sent home from their missions and are quarantined and are waiting to be reassigned. I love you all. You all have been such good influences on me growing up and have played a huge role in my life, and are a huge reason I chose to serve a mission.  You are a big reason I keep going. I just want you all to know that I am so proud of you. You chose to put everything aside and serve the Lord. By doing so you will be blessed.

You are probably all feeling disappointed that you have to leave the place that you love...the place that you just started to love the people and the work. Maybe you just started picking up the language and you don't want to go home yet...You don't want to have to be reassigned. Well if there is anyone who understands a little bit of what it feels like I do.

As many of you know, I was called to serve in the China, Hong Kong Mission but was temporarily reassigned to the Missouri Independence mission. I remember finding out that I wasn't going straight to Hong Kong. I was heartbroken. I tried to act strong, but inside I was really sad. I had just spent 9 weeks studying Cantonese and was extremely excited to get there and experience the new culture and get started.  Then I found out I would be serving in Missouri until things cleared up. I was confused and didn't understand why. I asked myself and my Heavenly Father many times why? Why did I get called to Hong Kong, if I wouldn't be going straight there? Or might not even ever make it?

But I have to tell you that I have been serving here in Missouri for almost 4 months now and have loved it so much. It has been an amazing experience for me and I have come to really understand that I am here for a reason.  I am grateful for the time that I have had to serve here.  Although I still have hope and believe that I will make it to Hong Kong someday. I trust in the Lord and his timing.

I am praying that you all will be reassigned to the Missouri Independence Mission. ;) If you can't be in your original mission you might as well be in Zion.

We did a bible study with one of our investigators yesterday. We read Matthew 8:24-27. Where the Savior and his apostles are on a ship and Christ is sleeping. A storm arises and scares his apostles and they wake the Savior because they feel that they are going to die. He calms the sea and tells them "O ye of little faith." His apostles then say "What manner of man is this, that even the winds and sea obey him!" I know that Christ and our Heavenly Father are in charge. No disease or anything can stop us from doing the work we are called to do,  because we represent Him that everything obeys.
