Week 26: Easter
你哋好! I hope everyone had a good week, and a good Easter! This week was a pretty good one. Extremely similar to the last couple, we did lots of studies and reading. We have lots of time so we workout hard everyday and try to set up lessons over the phone.
We taught a few lessons this week. It feels so good any time we get to teach and are able to testify of Christ. Since this quarantine started we have lost contact with most of our investigators. But in return we have received lots of referals.
We called one of them this week and did a phone lesson. She is a young lady, and has a faith in Christ. She was introducing herself to us and we did the same. She started crying because she didn't understand how we could just pick ourselves up and leave our lives behind and go serve the lord for 2 years. We were able to share how we love the lord, and because of him we can overcome all our challenges in this life. It was a powerful lesson and felt good to give this young lady some hope and joy.
Since coming to Missouri my cantonese has been slacking a lot because I can never use it. Also a little because I have been a little lazy on my language study. But this week I was able to do a face time call with My Hong Kong mission President's wife, Sister Phillips, to practice my cantonese. I was stressed out because of how bad my Cantonese has become. But it was super nice to finally meet her. The internet connection was so bad so I couldn't see or hear her. I got like 1 word in every 3 sentences switching back and forth between English and Chinese hahah. It was a funny experience. She said I had pretty good sounds and tones but I think she was just being nice because all I said was "please repeat" or "sorry I can't hear" in cantonese. So I don't know how she could tell. Hopefully in my next face times we will get a little better connection.
I am so thankful for my savior Jesus Christ. It was so great to be able to reflect on his Atonement and Resurrection this weekend. D&C 122:7-8 is about Joseph Smiths time in Liberty Jail. The Savior says that all his trials will be for his good and will give him experience and tells him that He has descended below all of them. He asks are you greater then he? I know that Christ overcame everything, everything. Because he did, I don't need to feel sorry for myself and the hard things that happen to me. I can rely on him and believe in him and overcome everything as well.
