Week 70: It’s Freezing!

Hey everyone! Sorry I'm getting so bad at sending these. I am still out here in Atchison.  The last 2 weeks have been so cold. The typical days have been about anywhere between 5 degrees and -6. But the "Feels like" is usually about -18 to about -25 degrees, so cold! Our power went for a little bit one of the days and our apartment got pretty chilly haha.

We have been reaching out to a lot of people and been trying to teach them. We were teaching these two young lady's for a while and we invited both of them to be baptized, and they accepted. But now we are not so sure, they will accept baptism super easy but don't really want to come to church. Not sure how that works haha.

We had the opportunity to hear from Brother Haws a guy back in Salt Lake. He is a good friend of President Ames, and he did a Devotional for our mission this last week. He gave an amazing devotional at BYU called "Wrestling with comparisons" It is so good, I would invite you all to listen to it. He talked about comparisons with us as well. He said how we as humans are so quick to compare others and ourselves, When really all God compares us to is to our former self. It was pretty amazing, he shared many scriptural accounts of it and just is a really smart guy.

I have been really studying about the Prophet Joseph Smith and the early saints of the Church and the restoration. It has been so amazing to see and learn how the Lord accomplishes his purpose by "small and simple things." It also is inspiring on how faithful and how much they sacrificed for the Church, for the gospel and to follow Christ. It inspires me to want to be a better missionary and disciple. If they could endure so much, then I can endure my challenges. It is cool also that I am serving in the place that so much of it took place. I know without a doubt in my mind that this Church is Jesus Christ's church restored here on the earth. I know that whoever's will follow Christ's teachings and look to Him in every thought, and follow the prophets council, will be blessed beyond measure and will ultimately recieve the greatest gift which is eternal life. Love you all hope you enjoy your week!
