Week 57: Bye Blue Springs

Image
Hey everyone! Hope all is well, this was a good week. Spent most of it quarantined, but we did lots of online work. We also did some service and raked a ton of leaves.  I just found out that I'm going to be leaving Blue Springs. It's kind of sad because I just got here and I loved my comp that I’ve been with. But I'm excited for my next area and the new experiences I'm gonna have. It was so awesome to hear from the Prophet this week. I loved his message about being thankful and how by being thankful it can heal our hearts.  I am thankful for a living Prophet who is inspired of God who guides us today. I hope you all took his challenge and are feeling the spirit of Thanksgiving in your life. Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving! 莫長老 Elder Miller

Week 56: The Zoramites

Image
Hey everyone, this week was definitely a rougher one. My comp and I got bashed like crazy this week, probably the most I have been on my whole mission. It felt like we were Alma and Amulek and the sons of Mosiah trying to teach the Zoramites. But it was good for us. Shanta and Forever are doing ok, still working with them. Shanta has the cutest boys, and they love when we come over. They are always asking us to play with them. It hurts my heart when we leave and they tell us "please don't leave." Update on Hong Kong: 20 missionaries went back into Hong Kong this last week. They are testing the waters to see If it's good for missionaries to go back in. So within the next couple months I could possibly be going in. So Pray for Hong Kong. I am grateful to be a missionary and a member of the Lords true church. Especially this week. The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and can bring us happiness and teach us how to become more like Christ. I hope everyone has a good we...

Week 55

Image
Hey everyone, this was a good week, nothing too crazy. Just was on the normal daily grind had some meetings we went to. I had an exchange with Elder Call it was fun to reunite with him. We taught some lessons and tried our best to work facebook. Keep praying for Shanta and Forver that they will be able to make their baptismal date. Elder Renlund gave a Devotional for the young adults on Sunday, it was great! He talked about the importance of doing the small and simple things to build our foundation upon the rock, and doing the things that keep us spiritual healthy and safe. But many of us fail to do these because of how simple they are, we look for grand answers to our problems, when really the answer is right in front of us and simple. I loved it! So grateful to be a missionary and a member of the Lords true church upon the earth! Have a good week! Elder Miller 莫長老                                   ...

Week 54: Happy Halloween!

Image
This week was a good one! We were able to meet with Shanta, and her new baptismal date is  Nov 7th.  So pray for her that she and her daughter will make it. We also had the chance to meet with this super amazing couple in the ward. They are 92 years old! They are both Polynesian, and when we got to his house he said "Welcome home Elders" and we have never met him before. He talked to us about his conversion story, and when he was serving his missions. Wow was he inspiring and so converted. He understood what it means to be a true disciple. He probably told us I love you Elders 20 times before we could leave. It was so nice to hear some of his knowledge and his testimony. We have been trying to get creative with finding. And I have been reading about Ammon and the sons of Mosiah, about how they would serve and love before teaching about the gospel. So we bought some cookies and wrote them a note offering service and had a Book of Mormon scripture on it. We gave them to some pe...

Week 53: Buzzed, Blue Springs and 1 Year!!!

Image
How’s it going everyone? Wow I cannot believe it's been 1 year as a missionary! This last year has  been the wildest, hardest, unexpected, life changing, and most amazing year of my life. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to put Christ’s name on my chest everyday and try to forget about myself and love and serve as he did. There has been some changes lately, some to where I am at now and some to my appearance hahah.  I am back in KC!! (Kind of) I am in Blue Springs which is in the KC Zone. I am with Elder Hogan from Kaysville Utah. He was reassigned from the Ivory Coast in Africa and is French speaking. Wow he is the best! A Great missionary and even a better person. I am going to learn so much from him. We also live with 2 other Elders. Elder Sanns from Pocatello Idaho, and Elder Burkett, the big dog from Nampa Idaho. Hahaha we have lots of fun! We pretty much live at the church because our apartment has no connection because it's like a cave. I was studying in ...

Week 51: General Conference and driving issues.

Image
Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoyed conference. Wow was it amazing! So many great messages, especially for our day. I couldn't pick my favorite talk because I loved so many of them, but I loved hearing from our Prophet and him teaching us the real meaning of Israel. "Let God Prevail" I thought it was amazing when he said that we will never have to worry about making tough decisions because if we ask ourselves, is this Letting God Prevail or not, then we will know what to do. How blessed our we to be led by loving Prohets and Apostles. This was a bad week for driving. So first off, one night this week we were driving to some Elders apartment to drop off some bed frames. It was pretty dark out and we were going like 65 mph and all of the sudden I see this dark thing in the middle of our lane and there was no way to miss it-so we hit it and it jacked up our bumper. So we pulled over and Elder Scott used his flip flop to hit the bumper in place so it wasn't scraping our bu...

Week 50: Banjo Noises

Image
Hey everyone! This week went by super quick but it was good! We did a ton of Facebook work which is crazy to think that this is the new "knocking doors.” One day this week Elder Scott and I spent 4 hours creating and editing a General Conference hype up video for our page. If you were to tell me that on my mission I would need to know how to use tech and edit videos I would have laughed.  A funny experience from this week was Elder Scott and I had to do a baptismal interview for some Elders in the Zone. It was at this ladies house in the "back woods" or "the sticks" hahah, it was on a farm. Anytime we go to a place that is like this Elder Scott always starts making these banjo noises and it is so funny! There were chickens everywhere, dogs going crazy and spiders everywhere, and there was Elder Scott in his suit. I loved it! The ladies Dad came back from grinding some farm work and was holding his arm.  Apparently he cut his arm doing something and was bleeding...
