MTC Week 6

Image
Hey everyone!  I hope everyone had a good week. Happy Thanksgiving! This week at the MTC was good, like I have said before nothing really new here at the MTC. This week was cool with Cantonese.  It is coming more and more every week, and probably will till the end of my mission hahah but that is ok. We were able to call a member from Hong Kong and "schedule an appointment with them" It was a cool experience to test our language and try to understand them. For the most part they understood us, and we understood them which was nice. But they were taking it easy on us because they knew we were american missionaries just learning. One funny thing with the conversation is that we asked the lady when would be best to meet with her. She replied "Yìhgā" (Right now) so then we bore testimony to her. It was awesome and gave us a chance to just briefly share something that we know to be true with a Hēung Góng Yàhn. (Hong Kong Citizen) This week is Thanksgiving which is o...

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone!!!  Léihdeih you hope everyone has had a good week. Can't believe I have been here 5 weeks! Time is flying but not fast enough hahah, just a couple more weeks.  Nothing new really here at the MTC, just the daily grind of Cantonese and class. It's really hard but great. I was made district leader yesterday, so I'm excited to be able to learn and grow more from my district. Kind of funny story from the week. Here at the MTC there is limited things you can do as well as limited free time. Hahaha so you have to be creative. One day me and the other elders in our district were tossing a ball around  and one thing lead to another and we were playing a mixture between spike ball and ping pong in our residence. Hahah we call it Jéunglóuh ball (Jéunglóuh is elder in Cantonese) The word has spread throughout our building and it has been getting pretty competitive hahah. It's been a lot of fun! Well that's all I got this week. I hope you all have a g...

MTC Week 4

Hey everyone!  Every time I send these emails I can't believe It has already been another week. Anyways, this week at the MTC was great. On Tuesday we were able to hear from Elder Uchtdorf which was amazing! When he walked in you could just feel the spirit so strongly and it was great.  Always great to hear from an apostle.  The language is coming along. Cantonese is extremely hard but every week I feel a little better about it and can see improvement. The other Hong Kong Cantonese district ahead of us are leaving this week. Which is so sad because we have become so close with them and really good friends. I am also going to miss playing ball with the Elders in the morning. They all are going to California for now until we get the Ok to go into Hong Kong. We are still hopeful for them and for us and hopefully will be in Hong Kong soon. Keep praying for Hong Kong.  One funny thing that happened this week is for the devotional with Elder Uchtdorf me a...

MTC Week 3

Hello everyone!   This week has been another classic week here at the MTC. This Wednesday will be 3 weeks, so coming up on 1/3 of the way through the MTC hahah. Nothing super crazy happened this week because we have a set schedule, but it's been fun to be able to keep growing with my companions, district and with the language. This week was Halloween, so me and the elders in my district wore some of the masks my mom sent us which was fun for the 20 seconds we were allowed to wear them. Our teachers were not feeling the Halloween spirit hahah.  Elder Ford wore a batman mask, and can do the greatest batman impersonation I have ever seen I was dying. One other funny thing but sad story, so me and my district were playing basketball together and all of the sudden I heard a thud and I look down and Elder Quilter is on the ground legs all weird. He rolled his ankle pretty good, which has been sad. But just funny the way he has been handling it, he's a beast. The l...
