Week 13- Ice Storms and the Chiefs
Hey everyone!
I want to start off by giving a special shout out to my sister abbie for winning Utah Gatorade Player of the year!!! So proud of you abs!! Just remember who peppered with you all those years haha love you!
This week was a good one. Started off with having my first Zone Conference. It was great, and I learned a lot from some really good training and it's nice to be able to see and talk to all the other missionaries.
Apparently we were supposed to have a massive Ice storm this last weekend. But it wasn't as bad as everyone thought it was going to be. We got a little snow and a little ice but not bad. Here in Kansas City if there is like any snow at all no one really goes out it is funny. It is just like a normal winter day in Utah. We were trying to invite some people to come to church but they would say something like "It's too Icy and dangerous to drive, I'm not driving, and neither should you." It was funny.
But also as you all probably know its the NFL playoffs right now. Here in Kansas City everyone is a Chiefs fan. Also Andy Reid is actually in my ward. His family comes like every week but I haven't seen him yet, maybe after the season. But anyway the Chiefs played yesterday and made an unreal comeback against the Texans. (Trust me I only know this because that is all everyone talked about yesterday, not because we saw any of it) One of our Investigators is a die hard Chiefs fan, and was talking all about the game. "Them Chiefs are strong, they young but strong, Mahomes is the real deal, Andy Reid is worthy of the title." It was hilarious. But we tried to relate how he can be like the Chiefs and overcome his trials and make a comeback and win. He loved it! He was so exited.
Also here in Kansas City there are tons of different churches and most people claim to have religion. A lot of people are Christian and are familiar with the Bible. We have been teaching an investigator who is super knowledgeable about the bible. He has tried to question us a ton about things in the bible and things in the Book of Mormon that he claims aren't true. But it really has been a testimony builder for me to really put the things I know to the test. The only effective ways to go about this is by bearing strong testimony of what we know to be true and letting the spirit do the rest.
I am so grateful to be a member of this church. The gospel brings so much peace and happiness in life. I am also thankful to be raised the way I was raised. Lots of the people here are really poor and it has opened my eyes to how lucky and blessed I am. My invitation is to always look for ways to feed Gods sheep. Hope everyone has a great week. GO CHIEFS!
