Week 28: Gratitude

Image
This week was another rough quarantine week. But with that being said, I have so much to be grateful for. I had lots of uplifting messages from some of my family this week which I needed.  I am so grateful I have the opportunity to be a missionary right now. To be able to put my tag on everyday and represent the savior is one of the greatest privileges ever. I am so thankful for my family and how I was raised, and for all of their examples to me. I am thankful for the scriptures. Holy crap they have been so clutch to me during this time. Thank goodness I can open them up and learn about the savior, and feel the spirit and find out what I need to do to be better that day. This a rough time for everyone, but it doesn't need to be if we humble ourselves and think about everything we have been blessed with. John 15:4 "Abide in me, and I in you..." The savior just asks us to follow him, He is our shepherd and we are his sheep. By following him we are never lead astray,...

Week 27: Examples of Charity Towards Me

Image
你哋好! This week was good. We were able to teach many member lessons. Also I did a couple of video chats with Sister Phillips and another Hong Kong Elder to practice my Cantonese. I love being able to practice speaking and hope to continue to progress and get better and better. We were doing one of our phone lessons with a member of the ward, and she offered to buy us Olive Garden and had it delivered to our apartment. We really appreciated her offer and could not turn it down. That was the first act of charity. The second, was by a less active lady in the ward that same night! She called us and told us to meet her at Walmart and that she wanted to buy groceries for us. So we met up with her. Trying to be as respectful and thankful to her as possible  we got  just what we we thought we needed. She saw our cart and then walked isle to isle with us and forced us to buy a ton more. She ended up spending a ton of money on us. It was the nicest thing ever! Great examples of C...

Week 26: Easter

Image
你哋好! I hope everyone had a good week, and a good Easter! This week was a pretty good one. Extremely similar to the last couple, we did lots of studies and reading. We have lots of time so we workout hard everyday and try to set up lessons over the phone. We taught a few lessons this week. It feels so good any time we get to teach and are able to testify of Christ. Since this quarantine started we have lost contact with most of our investigators. But in return we have received lots of referals.  We called one of them this week and did a phone lesson. She is a young lady, and has a faith in Christ. She was introducing herself to us and we did the same. She started crying because she didn't understand how we could just pick ourselves up and leave our lives behind and go serve the lord for 2 years. We were able to share how we love the lord, and because of him we can overcome all our challenges in this life. It was a powerful lesson and felt good to give this young lady some ho...

Week 25: A Conference I Will Never Forget

Image
Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a good week! This week was very similar to the last 3 but we had zone Conference over the phone. It actually was great and I felt the spirit and we had some great trainings. My highlight of the week was definitely Conference. I have been looking forward to and preparing for this one for 6 months and it was my first Conference on my mission. It definitely was one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I was absolutely amazed when the Shanghai temple was announced. I immediately had chills and was so happy. Pure evidence that the work is progressing and that the whole world will be filled with Christs gospel.  I am so grateful that we have a Prophet who leads and guides us today, and who receives revelation for us from our Father in Heaven. I also loved how all of the talks were centered on the restoration and on Christ. My favorite talk was Elder Holland's talk about hope. He is such a powerful speaker and a man of god. I loved how he s...
