Elder Miller

Wow! That is the only words I have to describe this feeling. Many of you reading this probably know what I am talking about. I have tears in my eyes as I write this.  Since I have been horrible at writing lately, here is a little update on what has been happening. I am back in Kansas City! I’m in the same ward that I started my mission! It was the perfect ending to my mission. I have been training a new missionary named Elder Whittaker.  He is from AF so close to home, and he has been amazing! It has been cool to get back to the basics of missionary work and it has made me reflect over the course of my mission. He is going to do amazing things on his mission greater than anything I did, he has been great! I have been doing a lot of pondering recently on my whole mission.  Many people have been asking me what I’ve learned the most. Hey everyone hopefully you all are doing good! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th and Happy Birthday to my Sis Lucy. Everything has been going good! We just had zone conferences this last week they all went good! It's always good to be with the missionaries! I got a new companion, his name is Elder McCann. He's from Orem so we are neighbors he plays tennis he's a stud. Plus he's got a pretty cool relative. We have been having fun and having been going hard! We have been working with this girl named Karla. She is a member of the RLDS church which has been nice for teaching but hard because she has been getting some backlash. But she was supposed to get baptized this week. But she has been busy at an internship for the summer. We were needed to get some details figured out for the baptism and the only time she was going to be able to was at midnight one of the nights this week. So we got permission to talk with her at midnight. But she ended up not answering which was too ...

Sorry I have been the worst at writing these recently, but I need to to better so I thought I would send a little update. I am currently still in the Liberty YSA ward and I am loving it! We have the most amazing bishop ever and great members as well. I am still companions with Elder Wilstead and have been having lots of fun with him! A couple cool things that have happened recently: Coach Andy Reid spoke to our mission for the second time! It was amazing!  He is such a good man, and pretty funny! He talks about being great on and off the field and in everything we do. One thing he says that I love is "Fear nothing, attack everything" Another exciting thing has been that the covid restrictions are being lifted quite a bit. So we are able to go street contacting again! I was on a exchange this last week in KC and we were street contacting in the hood haha. It brought back some good memories to when I started my mission. This last week was a crazy one!! First off we had a cool miracle with the Ritchel family. The mother of Wendy Ritchel passed away last week so Elder Cruz and I thought we would take them some flowers and some cookies. So we took some over to their house and when we handed the flowers to Wendy she started to cry. Apparently purple was her mother's favorite color and we happened to buy purple flowers.  She then said that they would be at church on Sunday and that would be open to meeting with us whenever. So that was awesome! Next, I found out I am going back to the Liberty YSA. I am going to be with Elder Wilstead. I am so excited he's a stud! It was sad to leave the little branch of Atchison. I met a lot of great people there, but I am really excited to be back in Liberty. 莫長老 Elder Miller

Hey everyone! The last couple weeks have been going good. We have been doing tons of Facebook work and doing some service. We have been working with this part member family. They have been so awesome, and the whole branch is helping out too. We are hoping we will be able to have them baptized soon. We also were able to play some pros basketball with some college kids this week, which was a tender mercy from the Lord to me. We also had a baptism this week! Our guy Brother Hutcherson! We have been teaching him for a while now. He used to be a member about 20ish years ago, but he left the church. Then he moved to Atchison and reached out to us and we started teaching him a little. We were able to baptize him, and it was such a cool experience to see him want to come back. He's a great guy! We also were able to do a virtual tour of the Sacred Grove.   Hey everyone! Sorry I'm getting so bad at sending these. I am still out here in Atchison.  The last 2 weeks have been so cold. The typical days have been about anywhere between 5 degrees and -6. But the "Feels like" is usually about -18 to about -25 degrees, so cold! Our power went for a little bit one of the days and our apartment got pretty chilly haha. We have been reaching out to a lot of people and been trying to teach them. We were teaching these two young lady's for a while and we invited both of them to be baptized, and they accepted. But now we are not so sure, they will accept baptism super easy but don't really want to come to church. Not sure how that works haha. We had the opportunity to hear from Brother Haws a guy back in Salt Lake. He is a good friend of President Ames, and he did a Devotional for our mission this last week. Hey everyone, the last couple weeks have been pretty good out here in Kansas. We have been reaching out to a lot of students at the college here. Sending tons of videos of what we do as well as teaching videos.  President Ames received some revelation this last week and has set our mission baptismal goal for 600. We were all surprised because of how big that number is, but we are all really excited and are motivated to work hard to see some miracles. The highlight of the week: We are teaching this guy named Reese.  He goes to Benedictine which is a catholic school. We invited him to church and he said yes, as long as we come with him to Mass. So on Saturday Elder Cruz and I joined him at Mass. It was in a huge building with a ton of college kids and then it was us. It definitely was very different, and an experience I won't forget!  Luckily in return we got Reese and one of his roommates to join us at church the next day. Hey everyone I know it has been a while I am getting really bad at sending these. Update on my mission life I am now in a little town in Kansas called Atchison. Birth place of Amelia Earhart. It is a fun little town.  There isn't a lot of things here but they do have a Catholic College here. My new companions name is Elder Cruz. He is from Las Vegas. He is awesome, he keeps me laughing and we have fun together. We are in a branch with some great members, and we go to church in a tiny multi purpose building. Definitely different then the normal big chapel's I am used to. My first sunday at Church they announced me as "Brother Wheeler" I have never heard someone mess up my name, especially that bad it was funny. As far as the work goes, we do a lot of Facebook finding and are constantly sending videos to people. We do a lot of work to the college kids here. Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a good Christmas! Things have been going good for me. Still visiting lots of missionaries which is a lot of fun!  Christmas was a lot of fun this year! Our foursome went to Texas Roadhouse for our Christmas eve dinner which was bomb of course. On Christmas day us 4 Elders choreographed a dance to "little drummer boy" by Justin Bieber that we performed in front of our zone. None of us are very good at dancing but it was fun. We watched Frozen 2 which was fun and played some games with our zone. We also had the opportunity to hear from Elder Holland on Christmas day. He did a Devotional just to our mission and it was very special. Elder Salmon and I spoke in our sacrament meeting on Sunday. Of course the week I had to speak a General Authority Seventy was there. That definitely added some nerves but I think we did alright hahah. I spoke on how we come to know and become like the Savior. I love that topic and it has been on my mind as of recentl...

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. This week was crazy! I got transferred to Liberty which I'm excited for it's a great spot. My new companion is Elder Salmon from Farmington Utah. He is awesome.  He played Football and Basketball in high school, so we have a lot in common.  My new area is different then the rest of my areas, my companion and I work with a lot of the missionaries in the mission. It's cool to be able to meet with them and get to know them more. I am thankful for this time of year. It is nice to be able to reflect on all that we have been given. President Nelson was spot on when he said that there is a healing power that comes from it. I have for sure felt that in my life when I choose to be thankful.  As a missionary it's nice because we don't have to get caught up in all the extra stuff of the holidays, especially christmas. Hey everyone! Hope all is well, this was a good week. Spent most of it quarantined, but we did lots of online work. We also did some service and raked a ton of leaves.  I just found out that I'm going to be leaving Blue Springs. It's kind of sad because I just got here and I loved my comp that I’ve been with. But I'm excited for my next area and the new experiences I'm gonna have. It was so awesome to hear from the Prophet this week. I loved his message about being thankful and how by being thankful it can heal our hearts.  I am thankful for a living Prophet who is inspired of God who guides us today.   Hey everyone, this week was definitely a rougher one. My comp and I got bashed like crazy this week, probably the most I have been on my whole mission. It felt like we were Alma and Amulek and the sons of Mosiah trying to teach the Zoramites. But it was good for us. Shanta and Forever are doing ok, still working with them. Shanta has the cutest boys, and they love when we come over. They are always asking us to play with them. It hurts my heart when we leave and they tell us "please don't leave." Update on Hong Kong: 20 missionaries went back into Hong Kong this last week. They are testing the waters to see If it's good for missionaries to go back in. So within the next couple months I could possibly be going in. So Pray for Hong Kong. I am grateful to be a missionary and a member of the Lords true church. Especially this week. Hey everyone, this was a good week, nothing too crazy. Just was on the normal daily grind had some meetings we went to. I had an exchange with Elder Call it was fun to reunite with him. We taught some lessons and tried our best to work facebook. Keep praying for Shanta and Forver that they will be able to make their baptismal date. Elder Renlund gave a Devotional for the young adults on Sunday, it was great! He talked about the importance of doing the small and simple things to build our foundation upon the rock, and doing the things that keep us spiritual healthy and safe. But many of us fail to do these because of how simple they are, we look for grand answers to our problems, when really the answer is right in front of us and simple. I loved it!
