Week 37: The COVID scare and Farewell President Love

Image
Hey everyone! This week went by so fast! It was a busy one and really fun! First started off we got a referral from the Bishop. His name is JD, and he is stationed down here at whiteman air force base just like everyone else. He used to be a member of the R LDS church in Montana, but had some issues with some of their beliefs and had a desire to find God again and to learn more about our church. We had an awesome lesson with him and were able to answer some of his questions. It was a really spiritual experience! Next, we had a little bit of a COVID scare this week hahah. An Elder in the Zone came in contact with someone who tested positive with the virus, and we were at his district council 2 days later and the whole zone eventually became in contact with each other. So the Elders got tested, and both came back negative. But because of it our mission took some steps back to more of the quarantine feel. It was sad we weren't able to go to our last zone conference with President ...

Week 36: Happy Fathers Day!

Image
Hey everyone! Happy Fathers day to all the fathers out there! Especially to my own dad, I love you. This was a great week. Super super busy, which is good because it always feels good to know you’re working hard and doing what you’re supposed to. One cool experience this week was, we started playing soccer with a family in our ward two times a week in the evening. There are a lot of non members that go so it is a great opportunity to talk to some people in a natural way. My comp Elder Scott rolled his ankle playing within like the first 2 minutes, so  we decided to shoot some hoops on the basketball courts that are next to the field.  After a while, a guy showed up so of  course we went and talked with him and we started playing 21 with him. We got talking and he had fun with us so we got his number and are planning to play some more ball with him and hopefully share some messages with him. Another really cool thing happened this week. We stopped by the Hong Kong ...

Week 35

Image
Hey everyone! This week was transfers and sadly Elder Call got transferred out.  But the good news is I got Elder Scott! He is from the Gilbert Arizona area and he is awesome! He also loves golf, so we are going to get as much golf in as we can. One cool thing that happened this week. Elder Scott and I were going through our area book and we tried calling two people who have been taught by missionaries before, but Elder Call and I couldn't ever get in contact with them. We called both of them and we were able to share a message with them and set up return appointments with them. One of the lessons was with a guy named Peyton. Peyton is a super cool guy, he has had lots of exposure to the church and missionaries. We just started introducing ourselves and he was doing the same and while he was telling his story about his life and his contact with the church, I felt prompted to read Alma 32 with him about relating faith to a seed. So we read the verses with him and discussed it...

Week 34: Liam's Baptism and 4 Elders in Warrensburg

Image
Hey everyone! This week was a great one! First off we got 2 new Elders in our apartment here in Warrensburg. Elder Call and I tried to fight to not have anyone join us because we knew our apartment would be too small for 2 more, but we got them still, and they were some great additions to the area! One of them is Elder Bethel from Vancouver Washington and the other is a reassignment from the Republic of the Congo. He is French speaking and he loves to use it often hahah. He has been teaching us some of it. So there is a lot of French around the house. Second, Liam was baptized!! It was an amazing day and experience for him and for us. It was weird with only 8 people there and some people over zoom. But the spirit was so strong. Liam's mom was on the zoom call and she is not a member. She started crying, and said it was a cool experience for her. So we are hoping Liam will be able to be a missionary to her. It was cool to hear Liam bare his testimony and hear how much he has gro...

Week 33: Hong Kong Express and Amazing Devotionals

Image
Hey everyone! This week was amazing! Lots of exciting things happened! First off our guy Liam had his baptismal interview and he passed! He is being baptized this Saturday  and we are so excited for him. He is such a good man, and it has been awesome to see him progress. We were very fortunate to have some amazing devotionals this week with just our mission. First one on Tuesday was a surprise one with Andy Reid! It was so awesome to hear him talk about his life and how he keeps his faith while being a Super Bowl champ coach. One thing he said that I loved. "Work to win, on and off the field." He said that when we are in front of people or not we want to win and do what is right and have integrity. He is such a good man, and fun to listen to. Then on Sunday we had the Privilege of doing a zoom call with Elder Holland because his grandson got reasignned here. So he offered to talk with just our mission. For those who don't know, Elder Holland is my favorite!! He...
